If you are staying in sultanahmet you can go to karakoy by tramway and get off in karakoy stop walk to karakoy galatasaray funicular and get ticket to galatasaray (where istiklal street stars). Istiklal street has no car traffic but lots of people. You can walk through istiklal street to taksim square with browsing windows of shops. You may find cheap clothing in different places. All famous people of Turkiye’s loves istiklal street. I would like to tell about staying in taksim if i were you i wouldnt stay in taksim because there is so much traffic and noise in taksim.
